Research on the effects generated in the Supermarkets sector  (E-commerce) in the face of the COVID-19 quarantine panorama

Supermarket companies in Mexico are feeling the impact on visits to physical stores due to the current situation caused by COVID-19; However, this also presents greater growth in e-commerce in retail companies and home delivery of convenience and grocery products. Guided by the new challenges presented for retail platforms, a group of six (6) evaluators from Sperientia's LabY: [Studio + Lab] ® conducted an investigation on the ten (10) most popular retail digital platforms in the downtown area.

from the country; analyzing information in each of them to detect good practices applied to the new COVID-19 outbreak, as well as new e-commerce strategies in different aspects (shipping hygiene protocols, limitation of mass sale of products, new functionalities, etc.) of interaction during your process of product selection, payment, shipping and subsequent information.

 

The platforms evaluated were: Chedraui, Cornershop, Costco, Gran Bodega, LaComer, Rappi, SAM'S, Walmart, Superama and Soriana. In addition to analyzing their e-commerce sites, the communication disseminated in information media that consumers can access (social networks and emails) was also studied, focusing on prevention measures, safety and hygiene protocols, changes in platform functions, limitations, among others.
